How To Make Iced Green Tea With Lime

THE ULTIMATE REFRESHING DRINK

On a hot day when I feel I need a boost of energy or I am in need of some cold refreshment, there is nothing that I like better than a large glass of Iced Green Tea with a fresh Lime squeezed into it.

Iced Tea in itself is really refreshing, but most people need to add sugar to take away the bland taste, which reduces it's benefits in aiding weight loss.   Instead of adding sugar, or as people often do a slice or two of lemon, I like to go the whole hog and squeeze a whole lime into a 16oz glass of my favorite summer time drink.   This makes not only a truly refreshing drink, but the combination of the Green Tea and Fresh Lime juice help to reduce water retention and to provide an energy boost from the Vitamin C rich Limes.

Green Tea originates from China and it is reputed to be associated with various health-promoting properties.  Green Tea has been shown to promote fat oxidation and also to prevent obesity.  Well that definitely works for me!  Anything that is good for the heart and helps burn fat is a good thing, especially in these days of poor dieting.   For me, adding the juice of a lime, you get a good dose of Vitamin C, which helps to energize you and also to boost the immune system.  I have only had two colds in the three years that I have been drinking lots of fresh juices daily, compared with many colds a year during the rest of my life, so I can personally atest to the benefits of Vitamin C.  But I digress...

I know that a lot of people just have to have sugar in their tea, but I actually enjoy my tea without sugar.  I guess I have a high tolerance for drinking things that are sour to others.

HOW TO MAKE MY FAVORITE DRINK

There are various ways to make Iced Green Tea With Lime, including using leaf tea instead of tea bags, a teapot or Iced Tea Maker, but this is the way that I do it:

I hope you enjoy sharing this truly refreshing drink with me.   If you haven't tried it, Uncle Lee's Green Tea is really good.  I have tried a number of different brands, and this is definitely to my taste, plus it's organic and very affordable.

Step 1
Brew your tea

Take 1 Uncle Lee Green Tea Bag, place in a mug and fill the mug with cold water.  Heat the mug and contents in a microwave for 2 1/2 minutes.   Allow to cool for 10+ minutes.

Step 2
Prepare The Glass

Take a 16oz glass and fill 3/4 of the way with ice cubes.

Step 3
Prepare The Lime

Take 1 fresh Lime.  If hard, roll on the countertop to soften it, then cut it in half and squeeze the juice into the glass.

I use an aluminum lime juicer that takes 1/2 lime at a time and very effectively squeezes out every drop of juice.

Step 4
Now Get Ready To Enjoy

Pour the brewed green tea over the ice, stir the contents of the glass, add a straw and enjoy.

ENJOY YOUR REFRESHING DRINK

You can also make Iced Green Tea in larger quantities for a party if desired, ans this is where an Iced Tea Maker comes in handy.

The limes are often not as sour as lemons, and the result is very refreshing, however not everyone can drink this without sugar, so sweeten as necessary.  You can substitute honey for sugar, or add fruit juice to enhance the flavor.
